|
Reminder for New Year's Day! Help get rid of your hangover and start the New Year with some exercise and fun by playing cricket! The plan is to meet at 10am for a 10.30 start. All members are welcome. Bar (for those who can stomach it) and hot snacks will be available. |
| 12th December 2004: Dirty Hawridge plot* to bring down lhcc.org thwarted |
|
Regular users of this web site may have
noticed that the front page has been slow to load in recent months. As I
recently discovered, this was due to 1.5 million empty lines being
inserted into the source code. This has now been removed, so the page
should be loading much quicker. * Plot invented as cover story for web editor's incompetence |
| 4th December 2004: Village stunners go topless for lhcc.org |
|
Two of Ley Hill's
premier beauties have taken the controversial decision to bare their
charms for this web site. The tasteful snaps, which we hope will make it
past your web browser's parental controls, show the delightful pair at
their very finest. Fluffy beauties show lhcc.org their charms |

| 5th October 2004: Fantasy league sickener - Flapper is champion |
|
Jon Lown, whose side had bided its time all
season, became 2004 fantasy league champion with a dramatic last-week
surge. Ian Walter, and Keith Strickland previously, had led the fantasy
league all season. But Strickland's last-weekend performance on the pitch
handed Flapper's Finest victory - and with it the £50 prize money. Thanks
to all those who entered this year's contest, raising over £100 for club
funds. Final fantasy league update |

| 22nd September 2004: Fantasy league updated with weekend's results |
|
New fantasy league leader Ian Walter retains
a slim lead over rival manager Jon Lown. Kash Shakoor is still top of the
players' table, but Kevin Phillips has also established himself as an
excellent value buy. Fantasy league update |
| 20th September 2004: Fantasy league update to shock world |
|
Keith Strickland has been sensationally
knocked off the top of the fantasy league, due mainly to the absence of
recent performers Andy Rennard and Dave Peterson from his team. Click

| 31st August 2004: Firsts survive as Cadmore End tumble |
|
Ley Hill's Firsts fell to defeat at
Broomwade - a result that handed Broomwade the Mid Bucks championship -
but thanks to The Lee's defeat of Cadmore End, our boys survive. Our
Seconds also lost to Broomwade, but still secured fifth place in their
first season in Division 2. More details soon. In the meantime, see the final league tables here. |
| 31st August 2004: Forrest to star in BBC's University Challenge |
|
Ian Webb, Oxford University boffin and
Thirds stalwart, is to star in University Challenge as captain of
University College. Let's hope he is more successful in facing down Jeremy
Paxman than he has been against opposition bowlers in 2004. Be sure to
catch Forrest's appearance on BBC2 on Monday 27th September. More details of Forrest's star appearance |
| 26th August 2004: Good luck messages flood into the Hill |
|
Ahead of Saturday's crucial fixture at
Broomwade, well-wishers from far and wide have extended messages of good
luck to Jon Lown's first-teamers. We have even received an email from
high-flying Little Gaddesden CC, who need us to do them a favour this
Saturday. 26th August: Liam O'Neill adds his message - and it ain't pretty. Click here to read the heartfelt missives |
| 24th August 2004: Great news from Hawridge gives Firsts a boost |
|
Hawridge & Cholesbury, a long-time foe of
Ley Hill's Firsts, did our boys a massive favour by resoundingly beating
Cadmore End on Saturday. We therefore have a lead of seven points over
second-bottom Cadmore ahead of our tough fixture away at Broomwade.
Cadmore also have a difficult game, away at The Lee. Holmer Green now look
to be safe. Click here to go to the Mid Bucks League web site |
| 23rd August 2004: Come on the Hill - we can still do it |
|
It's so precarious for Ley Hill - but we can
still stay up. The Hill's Firsts suffered a big loss against Widmer End on Saturday, collapsing for 108 but putting up a decent fight before losing by four wickets. Our Seconds fell well short against Hampden, while our Thirds were comfortably beaten by Farnham Common. Firsts, Seconds and Thirds scorecards
Sunday saw big runs for Jamie Morris and
Stuart Clarke, but we still fell well short of West Wycombe's mammoth
total. |
| 23rd August 2004: Strickland roars on in fantasy league |
|
Wily operator Keith Strickland is still the
leading boss in the Ley Hill CC fantasy league, though Paul Green and Paul
Humphreys were boosted by good performances from Jake Wells and Rob
Thompson this week. The fantasy league has been updated to 22nd August;
you can view how your side is doing by downloading the spreadsheet on the
following page. Fantasy league update |
| 23rd August 2004: Averages and top performances updated |
|
On a miserable weekend for Ley Hill, the
only addition to the top performances chart was 16 year-old Jamie Morris,
who smashed 79 versus West Wycombe. Averages and top performances updated to 22nd August |
| 20th August 2004: August newsletter added to site |
|
Eleanor Phillips's monthly newsletter is now
online, and it includes details of the upcoming Bank Holiday Monday
six-a-side tournament. Club members are requested to do their bit to help
out on the day. August newsletter |
| 18th August 2004: Thirds are only heroes on Saturday of misery |
|
Our Firsts collapsed against fellow
strugglers The Lee, while our Seconds could not defend a decent total at
Waddesdon. It was therefore left to the Thirds to regain some pride for
the Hill. Heroic veteran Terry Rothwell and new-boy Amar made light of the
pressure, crushing Phoenix Old Boys by 30 runs. Firsts, Seconds and Thirds scorecards |
| 18th August 2004: Denham did 'em |
|
Our Sunday side, who had an excellent start
to the season, have started to stutter and lost again versus Denham this
weekend. Good scores from Keith Strickland and Paul Humphreys, and wickets
for spin twins Paul Green and Tanveer Ahmed, could not save our boys from
defeat. Sunday scorecard |
| 18th August 2004: Fantasy league updated |
|
Kashif Shakoor, Kevin Phillips, Keith
Strickland, Jon Lown, Arsalan Shakoor, Rob Thompson, Will Rothwell, Jake
Wells, Tanveer Ahmed and Andy Rennard: the top ten players in this year's
fantasy league. There's a few surprises in there, but top manager Keith
Strickland has five of the best value buys amongst them. The fantasy
league has been updated to include this weekend's results - click below to
see how your side is doing. Fantasy league update |
| 9th August 2004: Hill nobbled by Hawridge in derby double-header |
|
Hawridge and Cholesbury
soundly beat our Firsts and inched out our Seconds in derby Saturday at
the Hill. Off the pitch, there is no doubting the better club. But despite
huge strides over the last two years, Ley Hill still has a little way to
go to match Hawridge's consistent playing quality. Meanwhile, our Thirds
fell to an agonising defeat versus Haste Hill at Bellingdon, losing their
last wicket just 126 runs short of their target. Firsts, Seconds and Thirds scorecards |
| 9th August 2004: Three fifties but Little Kingshill hold out for draw |
|
Kash Shakoor, Jake Wells and Kevin Phillips
all struck fifties for the Hill, but we just could not break through the
Little Kingshill batting order, resulting in a slow draw. 'Uncle' Tanveer
Ahmed took three wickets. Three Thompsons bowled, giving away just 15 runs
between them. Sunday scorecard |
| 4th August 2004: What makes O'Neill's alcoholic Catholic blood boil? |
|
Is it (a) Jordans Cricket Club,
(b) O'Neill's unfulfilled potential, (c) The colour orange,
(d) In literal terms, heat that diverges upwards from normal
Guinness serving temperature, or (e) All of the above? Finally you
can find out for yourself. Not for the first time, Liam O'Neill is laid
bare. On this occasion, however, you may like to view the consequences.

Fantasy league update - Strickland reignsKeith Strickland and Kash Shakoor are still respectively the leading manager and player in the fantasy league. But both their leads have been cut - by that man Jon Lown (pictured right). You can see how the players in your side are doing by viewing the Microsoft Excel file linked to from the following page. | 2nd August 2004: Averages and top performances updated |
|
Kevin Phillips has charged up to second
place in the batting chart, with an average of just under 50. Seb San
Martin surges up the bowling table with an average of just 11 (though
still below the 50-over entry requirement), but 'Uncle' Tanveer Ahmed tops
the main chart with a superb 11.75. Averages and top performances |

| 27th July 2004: Seconds score 25-pointer but Firsts collapse in shambles |
|
The Seconds scored an excellent win over
Flackwell Heath on Saturday, with Kevin Phillips putting in a
fantasyleaguetastic performance. The Firsts, at home to lowly Holmer
Green, tumbled to a huge loss. On Sunday, our boys put up a fight against
Hawridge but fell 30 runs short of the target. Firsts, Seconds and Thirds scorecards Sunday scorecard (All added 2nd August.) |

| 20th July 2004: Firsts back on track with superb win; Seconds not |
|
Jon Lown's Firsts superbly defended just 129
runs, as Liam O'Neill ripped through Cadmore End with five wickets.
Excellent
fielding, including eight catches, was the key to the 25-point win. The
Seconds fell just short against Potten End despite an heroic middle-order
effort. Our Thirds suffered a substantial loss versus Fulmer, although Ian
Walter starred with three wickets. Firsts, Seconds and Thirds scorecards Will Holman reports on the Firsts' victory |
| 19th July 2004: Ley Hill fail to beat bare-knuckle fighting Gypsies |
|
Chasing Chiltern Gypsies' unimpressive total
of 169, the Hill ended 28 runs short and with just one wicket in hand. Our
last seven batsmen scored just 15 runs between them, skittled out by
paceman Minette. Earlier nine Hill bowlers had successfully contained the
nine-men-and-a-woman opposition. Click here for the scorecard |
| 19th July 2004: Fantasy league update |
|
The fantasy league has been updated to
include the results of 17th & 18th July. Keith Strickland has widened his
lead at the top of the league, but Stephen Walter's Wanderers had a good
week. On the playing side, Liam O'Neill and Will Holman had good weekends,
but Kash Shakoor is still the best buy with nearly 1000 points. Fantasy league update |
| 16th July 2004: Juniors results, averages and report |
|
Our Under 15s have been enjoying a superb
run of results, culminating in a momentous win over Ballinger on the 1st
July. The highlights of the season so far have been brilliant batting
performances from Lawrence 'Lozza' Chamberlain and Jake 'Jakey' Wells, and
great bowling from Emrys Jones. Under 15s results and averages
Meanwhile, the Under 14s scored an excellent
win over Chenies & Latimer on 20th June, with Dan Wilde (52 not out) and
Ben Ford (28 not out) starring. |
| 16th July 2004: Rain hits weekend after previous Saturday of toil |
|
The games of Saturday 10th July were hit by
the rain; the week previous our Firsts had fallen to a big defeat at
Ballinger, while the Thirds lost against Haste Hill. The Sunday side has
experienced a win over Wheathampstead and a loss to Chelsea Nomads - the
latter being their first reverse of an excellent season. Denis McCarthy reports on the Thirds' fixture with Haste Hill 3rd/4th July: Scorecards for Firsts, Thirds and Sunday side 10th/11th July: Scorecard for Sunday |
| 16th July 2004: Fantasy league update |
|
The fantasy league has been updated to
include results up to 11th July. Keith Strickland is now top of both the
managers' and players' leaderboards - a superb season for the grim-faced
wicket-keeper. Click here for the update |
| 4th July 2004: Second half of Jon Lown interview |
|
55 year-old Jon Lown has told this web site
that he sees himself as the new Jim Rainey, hoping to play for Ley Hill
for the next 20 years. Whether the club will allow him to is another
matter. Flapper also reveals his key motivation for playing for the Hill:
getting away from the family. The Jon Lown Interview - Part Two |
| 30th June 2004: New facilities hit lhcc.org |
| A search facility - sponsored by Ley Hill all-rounder Paul Green - has finally been installed on this web site. The facility works by opening a new window at the Google web site and performing a search specific to lhcc.org. In addition, there is now a noticeboard scrolling box placed in the left-hand panel, where notices and ongoing requests can be posted. Hopefully the new features work fine; please let me know if they do not - email post@lhcc.org. |
| 29th June 2004: Superb wins for Thirds and Sunday side |
|
Ley Hill's Firsts saw their game rained off
on Saturday, while the Seconds could only achieve a losing draw. Our
Thirds, however, scored a momentous victory over Old Merchant Taylors*. On
Sunday, our boys coasted to a win over Cublington, with Jake Wells, Jon
Lown, Paul Green and Kash Shakoor the stars. * Fifths Seconds, Thirds and Sunday scorecards |
| 29th June 2004: Under 10s put in excellent performance in tournament |
|
Ley Hill's Under 10s recently took part in a
four-team, eight-a-side tournament at Westbrook Hay, alongside Hemel
Hempstead, Ballinger and Westbrook Hay. Our side put in an impressive
showing against these three very experienced sides, coming second in each
game but doing themselves proud with their spirited performances. Click here for Kate Morris's report |
| 29th June 2004: Robin Carr achieves further qualification |
| Firsts' umpire Robin Carr has now passed Level 2 of his umpiring course - a fantastic achievement as the pass rate for Level 2 is generally very low. According to Robin's tutor the score was one of the highest, if not the highest, in this area from the latest group to take the exam. Well done to Robin on this excellent achievement. |
| 29th June 2004: Fantasy league updated to 20th June |
|
|
| 28th June 2004: Quiz night planned for 9th July |
| The social committee has planned a quiz extravaganza for Friday 9th July. The quiz, which starts at 7.30pm, will cost just £2 per person, to include nibbles. There will of course be extensive bar facilities available on the night. Numbers are limited, so teams are requested to email Denis McCarthy as soon as possible to book their place. |
| 25th June 2004: lhcc.org gives it the big one |
|
What happens when you type 'Chesham Cricket
Club' into Google? Or when you type 'Hawridge and Cholesbury Cricket Club' into Google? And how about 'Broomwade Cricket Club'? Or 'Mid Bucks cricket'? Ley Hill CC is the web's favourite cricket club, with the web's favourite cricketers. We have made a sound start to life in higher leagues in 2004. We have shown we are more than good enough to survive and make progress. |
| 23rd June 2004: Fantasy league updated to 20th June |
|
Keith Strickland has opened up a small lead
at the head of the fantasy league, thanks largely to the presences of Kash
Shakoor, himself and comeback king Dave Parkhouse in his side. In the
players' leaderboard, Jon Lown and Strickland are closing the gap on early
forerunner Kash Shakoor. |
| 20th June 2004: Loss and two draws in disappointing weekend for Hill |
|
Ley Hill's Firsts stuttered to a losing draw
against Widmer End, ending all of 100 runs short of the hosts' total.
Meanwhile the Seconds fell to a choking defeat at home to basement club
Hampden, despite four wickets from Kevin Phillips. Sunday's rain-affected
game ended with Bellingdon clinging on to a draw in the face of a
ferocious Paul Green-Denis McCarthy onslaught. Firsts and Seconds scorecards Sunday scorecard |
| 20th June 2004: "There is no mutiny... I am up to the task" |
|
Jon Lown has at last responded to the
whispering campaign that has threatened to bring down the Firsts' skipper.
'Flapper' insists that he, and his side, are up to the task of Premier
division survival. But he has firm words for a number of players who he
demands must raise their games - or face relegation from the side. The Jon Lown Interview - Part One |
| 18th June 2004: Seconds edged out by Broomwade in Evening Knockout |
|
Ley Hill's Seconds lost to the Mid Bucks
Division 2 leaders by just six runs on Tuesday, despite another
half-century from youngster Kash Shakoor. The Hill were unlucky to exit
the Evening Knockout, running Broomwade close all the way. Evening Knockout scorecard |
| 17th June 2004: Brilliant Under 14s march on unbeaten |
|
Our Under 14s team continues to make huge
strides forward. Further wins over Dinton and Wendover, two clubs
significantly larger than Ley Hill, have taken our Juniors to the top of
their league. There have been excellent individual performances throughout
the side. Stephen Walter reports on the win over Dinton Ian Walter reports on the defeat of Wendover |
| 17th June 2004: Tea Watch Update |
| It seems that our Tea Watch Spy has eaten too much delicious Division 3 tea, and played too little quality cricket: due to a lack of Seconds action, he has had to suspend his Tea Watch column. Click here for his update. |
| 17th June 2004: Further hat-trick added to all-time records |
|
Another hat-trick has escaped the intense
gaze of Ley Hill CC statistician Eleanor Phillips. Brian Puddephatt took a
hat-trick against Holtspur in 1985, when he took five wickets with the
last eight balls he bowled. Incredible stuff. Click here for the revised list of hat-tricks in Ley Hill's history. |
| 14th June 2004: Fantasy league updated |
|
Ian Walter is the new leader of the fantasy
league, a whisker ahead of Jon Lown. Keith Strickland's side is not far
behind. In the players' contest, Keith Strickland has raced up the
rankings to third after his excellent century on Sunday. Click here for the fantasy league update |
| 14th June 2004: Victory for Sunday side as Strickland smashes ton |
|

over Shenley Church End, thanks largely to a super century from Keith
Strickland - a feat that saw the veteran keeper raising several smiles in
celebration. Click here for the scorecard |
| 11th June 2004: One win apiece in Hawridge double-header |
|
Ley Hill's Seconds stormed to a very
convincing victory over Hawridge & Cholesbury, with Kash Shakoor
registering a second ton of the season for the Hill. The Firsts continued
their run of bad form however, failing to reach the modest total set by
Hawridge on their patch. The Thirds put on a fantastic show, losing by
just nine runs. Follow the links for Firsts, Seconds and Thirds scorecards. Will Holman reports on the Seconds' fine win Nick Lee reports on the Firsts' close defeat (added 10th June) Richard Lewis reports on the Thirds' almighty effort versus Farnham Common (added 11th June) |

strong performances but failing to capitalise on dominant positions.

close defeat by Phoenix Old Boys on 29th May. His report reveals a massive
scandal at the rotten core of this web site's fantasy league contest. Some
readers may find this story upsetting. Click here for our reporter's incredible revelations. |
| 8th June 2004: Jake Wells in brilliant performance to see off Longlands |
|
Jake Wells took five wickets and scored 51
runs as Paul Green's Sunday side strode confidently to victory over
visitors Longlands. Wells returned incredible figures of 4 overs, 5
wickets for 9 runs to arrest a threatening-looking opposition tally. Paul
Green and Azz Shakoor also starred with ball and bat respectively. Click here for the scorecard. Click here for Tom Holman's report (added 8th June). |
| 7th June 2004: Fantasy league updated |
|
Jon Lown is still the early leader of the
fantasy league, but Ian Walter is not far behind. After another fine
century, Kash Shakoor is clear at the head of the players' table. You can
now see a detailed run-down of how your side is doing in the fantasy
league; full details are available in an Excel spreadsheet - follow the
link below for instructions. Click here for the fantasy league update |
| 7th June 2004: Averages and top performances added to site |
|
Keith Strickland and Kash Shakoor have
impressed the bat this season, a fact reflected in the latest averages
produced by Eleanor Phillips. Rob Thompson is our top performer with the
ball. Ian Birkett, meanwhile, has managed to move to a bowling average of
121. Averages and top performances |

victories over Chenies & Latimer and Penn & Tylers Green. Our boys shared
the plaudits around the team in reaching two more scores of over 120 runs. Chenies & Latimer report and Penn & Tylers Green report The fixtures/results page has also been updated to include all results so far. Click here to see how our sides have fared. |
| 4th June 2004: Additions to hat-trick achievements |
|
Research has uncovered a further hat-trick
to add to the Ley Hill role of honour. Bob Leadbitter achieved this
pinnacle of bowling feats in 1987, versus the questionably-named
Boxbusters. The match was also notable as Boxbusters stood on 104 for 2
before collapsing to 107 all out. Also added is Tanveer Ahmed, for his
fabulous hat-trick of a couple of weeks back versus the Rising Sun. Hat-tricks in Ley Hill's history |
| 1st June 2004: Renewed request for help preparing the pitch |
| Assistance is required to help make sure that Ley Hill's pitch is again one of the best in the league. Nick Lee has requested that club members make sure they sign up to at least one slot to mow the outfield on a Saturday morning. The task requires no prior experience and is enjoyed by some players as a form of therapy. Sign up on the rota in the pavilion. |
| 1st June 2004: Hill fall out of Evening Knock-out; President's men beaten |
|
Ley Hill's Firsts were beaten by The Lee in
the first round of the Evening Knock-out, falling well short of our hosts'
massive total. The Hill's nemesis was once again big-hitting big man Tony Blakeley. On Bank Holiday Monday, present Ley
Hill players edged out ex-players, with Jon Lown, Scott Peterson, Pete
Grainger and random inclusion Phil Ashwell all starring. Knock-out scorecard and President's XI scorecard |
| 30th May 2004: Disappointing Saturday results despite brave showings |
|
Ley Hill's Firsts fell to a home defeat by
Little Gaddesden, despite three fifties in a Hill score of 246 for 4. The
Seconds fared better, managing a winning draw over Old Challoners, with
the opposition falling just four runs short of our modest total of 156.
The Thirds caused a shock of massive proportions in losing by just six
wickets - Terry Rothwell and new boy Bastion were the main stars. Firsts scorecard, Seconds scorecard and Thirds scorecard |
| 24th May 2004: Seconds in super win but First slip up at Holmer Green |
|
Ley Hill's Firsts slid to a three-wicket
defeat as Jon Lown's boys suffered on the Holmer Green quagmire, despite
4-31 from firebrand Celt Liam O'Neill. Our Seconds scored a convincing win
over Flackwell Heath, with Will Rothwell and Kevin Phillips the bowling
stars. Kashif Shakoor began a brilliant weekend with 51 not out. With each
league side achieving one win out of two, the club has made a sound start
to the league season. Firsts scorecard Second scorecard |
| 24th May 2004: Three brilliant performances in trouncing of Rising Sun |
|
Keith Strickland and Kashif Shakoor both hit
scores of over 120 as our boys cruised to victory over the Rising Sun.
Meanwhile, 'Uncle' Tanveer Ahmed claimed a dramatic hat-trick as Ley Hill
skittled the opposition out for just 134. Just one victim came as a result
of Uncle's famous 'war dance' appeal. Click here for the scorecard |
| 23rd May 2004: Juniors execute brilliant win over Chesham: Fletcher is hero |

Ley Hill's Juniors triumphed over Chesham's
Under 15s last Thursday, a win achieved on away turf against an
accomplished side. Our youngsters seem set for a brilliant season.
Thursday saw the wickets and runs well spread, with Jake Wells, Lawrence
Chamberlain and Jamie Morris all starring - but it was that man Ben
Fletcher who produced the goods under intense pressure.

| 15th May 2004: Saturday Firsts romp to victory but other sides struggle |
|
Jon Lown's men scored a superb 93-run
victory over Cadmore End, with Andy Rennard smashing 94 runs. Rob
Thompson, Jon Lown and Craig Ottaway then skittled out the opposition. The
Seconds pushed Potten End hard, but ended up in defeat. In a shock, the
Thirds lost by some margin. Follow the links for: Firsts report and scorecard, Seconds scorecard, Thirds scorecard. |
| 10th May 2004: Message from the Editor - help needed running this site |
|
Running this web site is a time-consuming
job. This year I will not be able to spend so much time writing reports
and articles, so I need plenty of help to make sure the site is kept up to
date. Match reports are especially welcome, for both junior and senior
games. Please email your contributions to Will Holman at post@lhcc.org. |

| 9th May 2004: Saturday a wash-out but Sunday side registers victory |
|
Once again, waterlogged pitches put paid to Saturday's games,
but there was play between Ley Hill and Bledlow Ridge on Sunday. The Hill
scored a comfortable victory on the artificial wicket, with Kevin
Phillips, Jon Lown and new boy Gulfran the main stars. Match scorecard |

| 28th April 2004: Win and a loss on first weekend of the season |
|
On the first weekend of the 2004 season, our Sunday side registered a comfortable
victory over Bourne End. Rob Thompson starred with 31 runs and figures of
4 for 13, while Jon Lown ground out a nuggety 43. On Saturday, our boys
fell to Great Kingshill, despite good scores from Andy Rennard and that
man Lown. Saturday scorecard Sunday scorecard |
| 13th April 2004: Revisions to lists showing top scorers of all time |
|
A number of scorecards have been uncovered from the 1982 season, which
reveal that Colin Bowden, not Jon Lown, scored the most ever runs in a
season for Ley Hill. Meanwhile, the figures also show that Pete Grainger
took 110 wickets in that season, trumping his 1983 figure and ratcheting
up the target bar for today's bowlers. Revised top scorers tables |
| 13th April 2004: Full 2004 fixtures cards published |
| Fixtures Secretary Tom Holman has forwarded full fixtures lists for the 2004 season. The bad news is that Booker have dropped out of the Mid Bucks League, with the result that Ley Hill's Seconds have two gaps in their fixture list. Unfortunately, the first of these is on the first league Saturday of the season. Details of all sides' 2004 fixtures |
| 1st March 2004: Every century and seven-wicket haul ever |
|
Did one P. How really register bowling figures of 7 wickets for 2 runs in
1957? Did Matthew Green actually take nine wickets in 1995? Hold on - how
did the portly Green ever keep up a heightened exercise level long enough
to take such a haul? Eleanor Phillips's statistical record of all
century scorers and seven-wicket takers has all
the answers. Follow the links for Ley Hill's all-time best batting and bowling performances, hat-tricks and most victims in the field. |

Ley Hill's Mid Bucks league fixtures for 2004 have been announced. The
good news is that they finally confirm that both the Firsts and Seconds

Holmer Green and Booker await our sides. Respectively our sides face The
Lee and Broomwade in the Evening Knockout. Click here for the 2004 fixtures announced so far |
| 2nd February 2004: Robin Carr passes umpire exams |
| Robin Carr has overcome a key hurdle in his quest to become 'the next Bill Phillips', passing the qualifications necessary to umpire for Ley Hill next season. We extend our congratulations to Robin, and hope that he will grow to be as fine and upstanding a club official as Bill. |
