Club AGM fast approaching:
The cricket club's annual general meeting will be hald at 8 o'clock, Thursday 26th November in the pavilion. Although everyone is welcome, only fully paid up members will be allowed to vote on any issues raised. Please come along if you wish to hear a resume of the club's year or you have a grievance or idea you wish to be heard!

Junior Awards:
Following on from the very successful junior awards night, the age group winners are now inducted into the Hall of Fame for 2009 and can be found on the Junior Section home page or here. Senior awards will be announced at the forthcoming awards presentation evening.

Finishing Strongly:
Outstanding performances in the end of season friendlies are keeping Eleanor busy updating the Top Scores list, the latest version of which can be found here. The latest newsletter can also be found by clicking the 'Newsletter' navigation pane.

Sunday League Champions:
LHCC's sunday league side completed a clean sweep of victories in division 7 of the Chess Valley Sunday League. Under the expert tutelage of veteran Andy Rennard the 'Hill' brushed aside Chesham 'B''s to finish top of the pile in our first season of Sunday league cricket. Well done lads!

Annual Dinner:
While the Saturday sides await their fate in next year's league format, look forward to brighter times! The annual dinner & presentation evening is set for Friday 9th October at the village Memorial Hall. Tickets will be £25 to include the buffet dinner & contrary to an earlier posting will not include all you can drink! Sorry, worth a try!

Gloomy Skies Over Ley Hill:

Despite the firsts beating Downley, despite the thirds beating Potten End 2's, the final league tables do not make pleasant reading. The fate of our Saturday league sides rests in the hands of the league committee & the comings & goings of other clubs. On a more positive note, the club beat an enthusiastic Bellingdon side on Sunday in their annual 'Farewell' match, many thanks to the Lochab sisters for a splendid tea! Plus braving the elements, the parked cars, the Hell's Angels & the racket, the bank holiday Monday 6-a-side started in drizzle & finished in glorious sunshine!

Club averages have been updated here, team averages are on their respective fixture pages and the new top scorers list can be found here.

Busy Weekend:
Ley Hill has it's busiest weekend of the year this week. Apart from the final league fixtures for the three Saturday sides, the end of season curry night in the pavilion and the third, final, Bellingdon farewell match on Sunday. It's the annual 6-a-side tournament on Monday to coincide with the Ley Hill music festival, organised by the Crown & Swan public houses! So no excuse not to visit your club at some stage over the bank holiday weekend.

Juniors:
Junior coaching has now finished (muffled cheers from the coach's common room) but please remember Junior Presentation night, Friday 4September for one final social networking opportunity! Fun, food & the final word from the relavent junior team managers & coaches.

Hill on the Brink:
All three, LHCC Saturday sides are in the relegation zones of their respective divisions going into the final week of league fixtures. Ley Hill's darkest hour could rest on the efforts of the third eleven in division 2, who prop up the other two teams in the premier & first divisions. Last weeks results have been posted for those brave enough to look.

The Tourists Return:
The twelve just men returned from deepest Yorkshire with everything intact (just) including their cricketing pride. Not sure about their dress sense but hey-ho! Scorecards from their two matches can be found here.

U17's Joint Runners Up:
The U17's finished joint second with Beaconsfield, behind Wooburn in Division 2 of the MBYL. Ahead of local rivals Chesham 2's & Amersham, well done to all the lads, Ian Walter & Tim Coles their managers.

Results Galore:
Now Eleanor has returned, normal service can be resumed. Up to date results, scorecards, averages & top scores can be found in all the usual places. Riding high are the unbeaten, Sunday League side & the seconds who beat The Lee to lift the League Knock-Out Cup, just this week!

New Junior Coaching Schedule:
From 20July until coaching finishes on 19August, junior sessions will be on Mondays & Wednesdays only. Please follow this link to the Juniors home page for more details.

Mixed Results as the Weather Dominates:
The firsts, thirds & fourths fall foul of better sides. The seconds cruise past Potten End & rain wins the day on Sunday. England beat Australia in the second test & Eleanor produces the latest top scorers list here & the latest averages here. Don't forget that individual team averages appear on the relevant team fixtures page.

Its That Time Again:
This year's tour is to North Yorkshire to ensure Peet Sweet, rehomed last year by the Keep the Chilterns Free of Sqeeky Plastic Pads Society, has successfully settled into his new environvent where he can wear squeeky pads to his hearts content & not be heard from anywhere in the Ley Hill area. From 3rd-6th August a select committee will journey north to the village of Raskelf where delightful PH accommodation awaits. Silly hats, capes, jim-jams & bodywork repair kits essential! Please see Dave Peterson (remember him?) to register.

A good week for Ley Hill:
Fantastic weather (appart from the thunder storms!) brought good wins for the U15's, Friday's side, 1sts, 3rds(winning draw to be exact) & 4ths.The latest top scores are here and Eleanor has now produced the current club averages here. Team averages can be found on the relevant team fixture pages. Although they lost, it seems Paul's Sunday side had a very close run-in with even more record breakers on the top scores page. It's going to be a very long presentation night this year, book your places early!

Ley Hill Slump:
Appart from the U12's & the Sunday first team, no other victories were recorded this weekend. This does not take into account any reports from the Greek islands where for some reason there is a press embargo. The club averages have been updated though & can be found here.

Umpires Beware:
From last weekend's paper; "Furious cricketers beat an umpire with stumps after he gave an opponent 'not out'. Police were called to a game in Rotherham between Sheffield Alliance & Bradford based Shimla. The Bradford side had appealed for a catch but umpire Matthew Lowson turned down the appeal. He escaped serious injury after members of the home team intervened." Robin, David & Tim, think twice in future!

Strange Sightings at Ley Hill:
Courtesy of Martin Humphrey, we can exclusively bring you proof of Ley Hill's opponent's amateurish attempts to spy on our games. Rumours that it was Mrs. Peterson on her maiden flight were unsubstantiated, we can only conclude that it was the Bovingdon mafia's version of satelite surveillance. The proof is here.

History at Ley Hill CC.

History was made at LHCC when a win for the Sunday league side in their first ever game, catapulted them to the top of Division 7 in the Chess Valley Sunday League! Team manager Andy Rennard said 'I'm chuffed to bits' & other northern sayings, as celebrations which began at Ickenham CC, continued back at 'the Hill'.

Our Saturday league sides continue to struggle in the June heat of the Mid-Bucks & the Sunday side were out gunned by Ballinger Wagoners. Results are now posted.

2009 Fixtures:
All league, friendly & junior fixtures are now posted under the various section headings. Please consult carefully before booking holidays, weddings, sabbaticals, etc.

Glorious June:
The first weekend of June heralded weather that washed out all the scheduled cricket. A number of members & guests had their spirits buoyed however by watching cricket on Sky Sports in the clubhouse & no doubt again later in the week when Australia did not make it through to the Super8 stages of the world T20 tournament........ shame.

Long Weekend at Ley Hill:
Six adult games were played over the bank holiday weekend, all the results are now posted and the top scorers page is up to date here. Junior managers, please send in resilts, scorecards and reports for publication.

Sky Events at LHCC:
Barcelona & Manchester United this Wednesday, Chelsea & Everton this Saturday. What more could you want at your cricket club! Come along & join in the excitement & fun. You might even see some cricket.

Ley Hill top of the League:
Ley Hill first team head the premier league this week following their victory over Monks Risborough. All last weekend's results can be found on the relevant team's fixture page.

Top Scorers:
Some splendid results have been keeping Eleanor Phillips busy updating the Top Scorers page! Lewis Thompson tops the leader board with a fantastic 146 knocking new signing Pete Tuckett's 114 into 2nd place. Veteran Jon Lown looks very lonely in the bowling stats with his 6 for 30, come on guys lets give him some company!

League opening weekend:
The first weekend of league games produced a very mixed bag of results for our teams. All the results are now posted along with scorecards & reports where submitted. The top scorers page can be found here.

Footpaths on the Common:
Confused by the appearance of footpath signs on the outfield, our illustrious chairman has been delving back into the annuls of time to source their origins. See the fruits of his research here!

Looser Balls Continues into 2009:
The final issue, Issue #12 has now been posted. Originally an idea from Jon Lown, courtesy of Nick Lee (a main protagonist I might add) look out for future postings of the original fanzine which in their own way spawned the creation of this very web-site. Read issue #1 here. Read issue #2 here. Read issue #3 here. Read issue #4 here. Read issue #5 here. Read issue #6 here. Read issue #7 here. Read issue #8 here. Read issue #9 here. Read issue #10 here. Read issue #11 here. Read issue #12 here.

And they're off:
Despite the predictions the new season kicked-off in style with an intraclub match on Saturday and the familiar 'opener' against Bourne End on Sunday. Scoresheets have been posted & Eleanor has already prepared the first Top Scorers of 2009!

Rosie's Walk:
The charity walk organised by Charms took place in glorious sunshine on Sunday 15March. Almost 150 walkers completed the two courses, finishing at LHCC for refreshments and a barbeque. A great time was had by all and a heap of money was raised for The Hospice of St. Francis and Breast Cancer Care. We look forward to welcoming Charms back in the not too distant future.

Sunday League Cricket:
Ley Hill CC will be playing league cricket next season in division 7 of the Chess Valley Sunday League, following the vote at the recent AGM. Andy Rennard will be running this exciting new facet to LHCC which will play seven league fixtures in addition to the regular friendly Sunday matches. Details of LHCC's 2009 fixtures can be found here and the league's website here.
