Senior Awards Night:

Taking place at 7.30 on Friday 8th October at the Ley Hill Memorial Hall the senior awards presentation night this year will have a new format. The evening will be biased towards the cricket awards but will hopefully be more relaxed & casual. We are replacing the three course dinner with a curry buffet (ordered on the night) plus to keep everyone amused either side of the dinner & awards we will have indoor skittles and a picture quiz as well as the usual favourites from past years. The ladies of course are more than welcome but we are hoping to have an evening early in the new year more taylored to them specifically, when they can dress up & be entertained more in the style they have become accustomed. These changes, apart from making the evening a lot cheaper (£10 per head), we hope will make it more attractive to a larger proportion of the membership.

So please, lets see a good turnout for what promises to be a fun & entertaining evening, lauding the achievements of a successful season for our great club.

Junior Awards:
Following the success of the ever popular Junior Awards Evening (and this year it didn't rain!) the recipients of this years' accolades have been entered into the 2010 Hall of Fame & can be viewed here.

Tracksuit Tops:
The club's new tracksuit tops have arrived and are available to buy from the pavilion at £15 each. Don't miss out on this season's latest fashion accessory!

Mid-Summer Madness:

As mid-summer has past & we are on the countdown to Christmas, Eleanor is away for a week so things are a little quiet on the scorecard & top scores front. So with nothing else to do I thought I'd mull over some of the current injury issues affecting the club.

There's Kevin Phillips with his finger, sometimes it's dislocated - sometimes it isn't. Colin Bowden with his finger, or is it his calf? Ian Walter with his Achillies, Dave P's back, Michael Morris's very odd ankle (nice run up Mike!). If you know of someones strange ailment or just want to make one up to embarrass them, let me know.

Were you aware dear reader that we have an international star in our midst? Martin Cartledge is, as we speak in Eastern Europe playing softball for team GB! Keep your eyes peeled for coverage on Sky Sports, good luck Martin!

Normal Service Resumes:
Now our secretary has returned to the fold, normal service has been resumed & results, scorecards & the latest top scores are there for the viewing. Top story being the intrepid Mr. Green bags SEVEN wickets (ably assisted by Alex Batt) & still looses!

Henry Fraser Charity Cricket Match:

Many thanks to everyone who participated in the Charity Cricket match on Friday 11th June at Ley Hill CC.  The winners on the day were Mr Marjoribanks’ all star staff team, who managed to defeat a strong parents team in the final game.  A fantastic time was had by all. A big thank you to both Ley Hill Cricket Club for the use of their facilities and Mrs Skelt for providing lots of lovely cakes!

More importantly we managed to raise a grand total of £800 which will go towards the Henry Fraser Trust, to help Henry, a former pupil in his recovery from a spinal accident last summer.

June Newsletter:
The latest June newsletter can now be found on the navigation bar as can English Steve's latest posting.

New Fast Bowling Directives:
Following a 2 year consultation process, the ECB (in all their wisdom) have revised their fast bowling directives. Although only guidelines, they are designed to raise awareness of the need to nurture & protect young, fast bowlers through their formative years as research has shown that fast bowlers are by far the most likely players to miss playing & training time through injury. Strange then that in all but one age group both permitted overs per spell & maximum overs per day have increased. Follow this link to the new guidelines. Please note, Dave Peterson, Denis McCarthy & Steve Bell these are FAST bowling directives for JUNIORS; don't even bother looking!

Result Updates:
We are now half way through the league season & although the first team are in second spot behind Cadmore End, the seconds are sixth & the thirds are fifth in their respective divisions. So there is plenty of work to do in the second half of the season. There have however been some great results & performances ensuring that 'Top scores' is being constantly updated by Eleanor & the latest version including some impressive performances by our talented juniors can be viewed here.

Junior Fixtures & Coaching Nights now posted:

Junior match dates have been constantly changing as opposition sides struggle to keep pace with LHCC's talented youngsters. Details of this seasons revised coaching sessions have been posted on the Junior Section Home Page, together with most recent dates & results of the seven junior sides fixtures. The BucksCC junior league formats are different this year as there will be promotion & relegation from the different divisions!

Sir John Holman:
Those terrible Holman boys, Tom & Will, always did have a great dad. Well now they have an even greater, more famous, Knight of the Realm dad. See the attached for more details. Congratulations Sir John!

Final averages:
The 2009 season's final averages have been siting in my 'in box' for some time (sorry Eleanor) but have now at last been posted here. The respective team averages are to be found in their usual place. Following the annual presentation dinner, the award winners have been included into the 2009 Hall of Fame!

Spring Tour:
Plans are now finalised for the pre-season spring tour to Wales. More details can be found in the January Newsletter here, the tour is the brainchild of Pete Tucket & Jon Lown, dates are 4th - 6th May. Very few places remain for what promises to a hoot! Sorry a highly beneficial pre-season training camp.

Sunday Captain:
Because club rules state that captains should be 18y.o. or older, the position of the Sunday's friendly side captain is still vacant. If anyone out there yearns responsibility & a guaranteed game of cricket on a Sunday, please step up to the plate & inform your intrepid chairman, Robin Carr.

Forthcoming Social Events:

Mr. Green is organising an indoor games evening in the pavilion on Friday 9th April from 7.30pm onwards. Darts, cribbage & dominoes will be the order of the evening, refreshments will be availbale together with the usual fare.

Friday 16th April will be the club's annual preseason social evening at the pavilion. From 8.00pm onwards, with drinks & refreshments on offer, everyone is welcome.

Forthcoming social events can be found under the 'About Ley Hill CC' tab in the left hand column.

Indoor Nets:

There will be no indoor nets this coming Easter Sunday. The following Sunday, 11th April at CPS, will be an U12 & U13's session. The final session at CPS, Sunday 18th April will be for the U9, U10 & U11 age group. Due to a double booking, sessions at Westbrook Hay have come to an untimely end for both juniors & seniors. Our apologies for any disrupted training regimes.

Good news is that coaching will begin at the club week commencing Monday 19th April when a series of intra-club matches will be organised to start the season. More details to follow.

Easter Cricket School:
Our friends at Chesham Preparatory School are holding a cricket camp over the Easter holidays. More details can be found on the attached flyer here.
