Ley Hill vs Ballinger
13th May 2006
Robin Carr

Ley Hill and Ballinger had a very exciting finish to their match on Saturday with the game going right to the last ball. Ballinger set Ley Hill a target of 168 after they had scored 167 all out.

Skipper/wicketkeeper Riley top scored with an impressive 59 but unfortunately just as he looked to be opening his shoulders to get a very high score he was cruelly run out. Opening bowler Adams added 25 off just 13 balls but Ballinger’s score was kept down thanks to an excellent spell of bowling by Hill skipper Jon Lown who ended with 5-44. Chasing 168 Ley Hill looked on course with for a victory with Az Shakoor’s 20 and Andy Rennard top-scoring with 71.

Needing six off the last over Ley Hill managed to lose three wickets – including one off the very last ball when they needed just two to win - and had to settle for a losing draw. Adams ended on bowling of figures 5-40. This match was as sportingly played as it was exciting, with both teams thoroughly enjoying their cricket.
