LEY HILL ESCAPE THANKS TO RAIN

Ley Hill looked to be in for a defeat on Saturday against champion-hopefuls Hawridge & Charlesbury.  Deciding to bat, Hawridge had amassed a huge 173-1 in only 26 overs.  Opening batsmen Gunasekera and Pritchett enjoying a stand of 161 until Pritchett was bowled by Steve Walter for 86, shortly before rain stopped play.  Following an early tea, the umpires declared the pitch had become too dangerous for further play and within moments of this decision the heavens opened turning the square into a lake.
