LEY HILL CONTINUE TO
STRUGGLE
Ley Hill’s misery in the Mid Bucks Premier League continued on Saturday when they were thoroughly outplayed by an excellent Knotty Green and suffered their second defeat of the season.
Put into bat, the Hill made hard work of finding runs whilst Knotty Green managed to find plenty of wickets – at one point Ley Hill were 35-5. The last five batsmen managed to salvage some respectability by pushing the score up to 94 before the Hill were bowled out in the 40th over.
It says much for Ley Hill’s excellent coaching of juniors that three of the U17 side were their top scorers - Jake Wells (18), Steve Walter (15) and Craig Peterson (15).
Chris Lewis bowled exceptionally well for Knotty Green – 2 wickets for just 17 runs from 12 overs. He was ably assisted by his brother, Richard Lewis (3-18), Tea Mehmood (2-23) and Nigel Roberts (2-24).
It took Knotty Green only 83 minutes to knock off the required runs – ending on 95-1. Hill (29) and Mehmood (31) getting most of the runs, along with help from their “twelfth man”: ‘Extras’, who managed to knock up a total of 26.
Jon Lown’s caught and bowled of Mehmood was the Hill’s only bright spot in a very disappointing afternoon.
