WIDMER FRUSTRATED

With WESM at 61-3, Ley Hill could have been forgiven for thinking this was their day, but a 4th wicket stand of 104 made the game look very different.  Nadeem raced to 94 before being caught by Rooney from Richard Falconer’s under-rated bowling. Another wicket fell 3 runs later but then a valiant 54 from Walters and a few annoying runs by the tail took Widmer to 220-6.
Sam Helm was brilliantly in the wickets (3-48 from 11 overs – his best 1sts spell to date) but the usually miserly Jon Lown went for just over 5 an over – his worst (and unluckiest) spell of the season.  Krankie failed to get amongst the wickets but his 0-44 from 12 was just above 3 per over.
The Hill batted consistently but without anyone making a real mark.  Andy Rennard top-scored with 27, Rooney made 22, Craig Peterson 19 and Ollie Runswick 18 as the Hill fought off defeat.  Thankfully rain reduced the overs available to WESM to gain victory and a Losing Draw was finally gained as the Hill ended on 134-7.
