LEY HILL WIN WITH ROOM TO SPARE.

An astonishing collapse by Haddenham against Ley Hill in the Mid Bucks Premier led to one of the shortest league matches on record.  Having been put into bat, the Haddenham openers started off like an express train and reached 60-0 in the 8th over.  But just as it looked like a big score was on the cards they crashed to 81-7.  Everett (22) and captain Burniston (46) had looked in control but once they had gone only a spirited 8th wicket stand of 40 by veteran Burch (25) and Heggie (18) made Haddenham’s score look respectable, taking them to 122 all out.
Jon Lown’s bowling was exceptional as he took 5-28 and it was a welcome return to the 1sts for Rob Thompson as he took 2-26 and two excellent catches.  Sam Helm had opened the bowling with a good spell (2-22) and continued to look the fine prospect he is.
An excellent innings from Andy Branigan – 48, his highest 1st team score – and 38 from Steve Jones put Ley Hill on the way to reaching the required total.  Skipper Craig Ottaway hit the winning runs in only the 55th over of this 90 over match as the Hill ended on 126-6.
Abrahams (3-44) and Burniston (2-27 from 12 overs) had made life uncomfortable for a time but the Hill’s batsmen remain resolute.
