LEY HILL END ON A HIGH
Ley Hill 1sts ended their league season on a high by beating Premier Champions Hughenden Valley in a thoroughly absorbing, exciting match. Winning the toss, the Hill put Hughenden into bat – a decision that looked rather dodgy as Hughenden galloped to 162-4, thanks to Ali (46) and Ibraz (91). But there then followed an astonishing collapse as the last six wickets fell for just 29, Hughenden being bowled out for 191. The total would have been much less but for an almost disastrous run of dropped catches.
Bucks O’50’s player Andy Rennard took 4-41 in a little over 10 overs – his best spell of the season – including a splendid diving caught and bowled. Sam Helm took 3-31 in 12 overs that included 4 maidens.
Going into bat, Ley Hill lost two wickets almost immediately (3-2) but Craig Peterson steadied the ship with an excellent knock of 68, ably assisted by Stephen Walter’s 45. Ley hill ended on 192-7 with 8 overs remaining.
Parveez took 2-36 but it was nine-year old Zaib who astonished the Ley Hill batsmen and thrilled the crowd, such was his pace and accuracy and his 2-21 showed everyone this is a player to watch out for.
