LEY HILL OUTPLAYED
BY HOLMER
Ley Hill lost the toss and it was downhill
from then on. Holmer
Green’s Steve Jermain (12 overs,
5 maidens 3-17) and Steve Adams (12-3-3-34) remain the best opening bowlers in
the Mid Bucks Premier League and proved once again they had lost neither speed
or guile as they pegged Ley Hill’s batsmen back,
reducing them to 46-4. Spirited innings
from Ian Birkett (19), Jake Wells (25) and an
excellent, debut first XI half-century for Craig Peterson (59) saved the Hill’s
blushes, pushing them to 153-9 off 45 overs but it
never looked anywhere near enough.
Watt (25) and King
(61) had an encouraging opening stand of 41 and although the Hill quickly
claimed Ricketts to take it to 43-2, with King in inspired form and Wallace
digging in his heels (33), it was never going to be Ley
Hill’s day. Ward’s unbeaten 24 took Holmer to a winning total of 156-3 in only 33 overs.
Jake Wells (2-40)
and Felix Chamberlain (1-24) claimed the Holmer
batsmen.
