Ley Hill U'12s vs Chalfont St Peter U'12s
Craig Peterson
Craig Peterson was our captain for the day and for once we won the toss,
choosing to put them into bat. It turned out to be an excellent match, but we
ended up losing. We bowled well, especially Stuart Crichton who had a hat-trick
ball but then bowled a wide! Virtually everyone in the team bowled - and these
were their figures (but without the wides added to the runs!):
| Overs | Maidens | Runs | Wickets | |
| Stuart Crichton | 4 | 0 | 12 | 2 |
| Chris Morris | 4 | 0 | 8 | 1 |
| Max Khaihra | 2 | 0 | 16 | 0 |
| Felix Chamberlain | 2 | 0 | 4 | 1 |
| Craig Peterson | 2 | 0 | 6 | 0 |
| Lawrence McCarthy | 2 | 0 | 5 | 1 |
| Peter Crichton | 2 | 0 | 4 | 0 |
| Lewis Humphreys | 2 | 0 | 4 | 1 |
We bowled an astonishing 23 wides! In the end we gave away 35 extras (which was
their highest scorer). They reached 92 for 9 off 20 overs. We then had to bat in
the scorching heat with Craig Peterson and Jack Rivans opening up. We were at 30
for 0 off 5 overs, when Craig Peterson was bowled out for 16. Ollie Runswick was
next to the crease, and really well with his new bat! They made a great
partnership but suddenly Jack was bowled for 5 (a great innings because it was
his first match, WELL DONE!)
Then we started to collapse. William
Leather-Smith was next and did well but was again bowled for 1. Lewis Humphreys
was next in, and he showed some real Ley Hill talent but just as he got
confident, he was caught at deep mid-wicket for 5. Next was Felix Chamberlain
with his NEW bat, but it obviously didn't work
because he was bowled out on his second ball for 0. So it was the middle order
collapse but Ollie was still there. In came Larry McCarthy, but unfortunately
the nerves got to him and he only faced one ball before he was bowled. Peter
Crichton then came in on a hat-trick ball and played and missed.
A few minutes later he was run out on 3. Max Khaihra was next in and he stayed
for quite a while, trying to give Ollie the strike, but he was suddenly (yet
again) bowled for 1. Then it was Stuart Crichton's turn but Ollie, desperate to
score runs, ran himself out on 25. So the last wicket was in Chris Morris and
Stuart Crichton's hands and we needed 10 runs off the last over! Stuart was
bowled on the first ball. So it was game over but we played well, and we all had
fun.
