Ley Hill beat Chiltern District Girls (under 14’s) side in convincing fashion in this home fixture.
Hill won the toss and put Chiltern into the field. The batting was opened by Rory Sore (12) & Jamie Lewis (31 n.o.) who together with Ben Woodbridge (30 n.o.) got the side off to a strong start. This was backed up & supported by Tom Cullen (14) & Alex Humphrey (21 n.o.). The home side reached a total of 131 for the cost of 4 wickets in their 20 overs.
Chiltern Girls were then put into bat and were soon in trouble. Michael Morris (3-12-0) and Peter Garland (3-6-2) opened the bowling and reduced Chiltern to 21-2. They then rallied to a score of 47 before their top scorer was deceived by a slower ball by Alex Partington.
After this, there was a steady fall of wickets as Ley Hill always looked in control. Ben Woodbridge took three wickets (3-5-3) and Tom Jeffery (3-10-1), Josh Wright (2-1-1) took a wicket a piece. The final wickets were claimed via excellent run outs by Ben and Jamie Lewis. Chiltern’s innings ended on 74 runs in the 19th over.
There were many contenders for the man of the match award. Jamie Lewis batted well and got a run out. Alex Humphrey got his highest score of the season, and Tom Cullen against produced good runs. Peter Garland opened the bowling well, and took two wickets. However, the award went to captain Ben Woodbridge for his 30 not out, 3 wickets and one run out.
