CAPTAIN Scott Barrett led his brave Ley Hill Under-10s to a blistering display against a powerful side from The Lee at Bellingdon.
The Ley Hill side, inspired by a brilliant display from wicketkeeper-batsman and man-of-the-match Max Lee went down by 49 runs against a side with one of the most powerful bowling attacks in the League.
Scott said: "I thought we did really well against a very powerful side. Our batting was solid and the bowling was very good indeed. But we're just taking it one game at a time at the moment.
"We've got some very talented players and I'm sure it's only a matter of time before we start winning matches."
The pick of the Ley Hill batters were Tor Outfin and Max, who both finished on eight not out under Barrington rules. They were well supported by gritty middle order performances from Fergus Allan, Christian Partington, Bert Wade, Scott, Under-8 stand-in Zac Outfin, Jamie Cullen, Jake Choules and James Seabrook.
The Ley Hill innings closed on 189 for the loss of 11 wickets, leaving the bowlers with a decent target to defend.
The bowling looked very strong throughout, with Fergus and Scott both taking two wickets for just 11 runs in three overs apiece. Max took two sensational catches behind the stumps, while James Seabrook weighed in with a wonderful caught and bowled and Jamie bowled a maiden and took a wicket in his three overs.
Christian bowled an impressive spell of three overs for just five runs and the fielding improves with each game, with some superb backing up and plenty of vocal enouragement.
But The Lee batsmen were a very strong unit and eventually finished on 238-7 to claim victory.
