SKIPPER Max Lee led Ley Hill Under10s to a magnificent 32-run victory at arch-rivals Hawridge and Cholesbury.

After being put in, Ley Hill's impressive batting line-up set a formidable total of 274-4 under Barrington rules in their first-ever League fixture.

Despite losing two wickets in the first over, the innings was held together by brilliant contributions from James Asquith, who hit two fours in his 15, and Tor Outfin, who scored 12.

They were ably supported by Max and Fergus Allan, who both scored eight in the middle order against some hostile bowling.

Christian Partington and Zac Outfin, in as a last-minute replacement, scored four each, with Bert Wade, Spencer Biddle, Jamie Cullen and Scott Barrett also making valuable contributions.

Ley Hill's bowlers relished the warm conditions and the chance to play on a grass wicket for the first time.

Jamie opened the bowling and took wickets in each of his first two overs to put Ley Hill in command. He was well-supported by all the other bowlers as the long hours spent in winter nets started to pay off.

Scott, Spencer, Bert, Tor, James and Zac all bowled miserly spells, while Fergus looked impressive behind the stumps. Christian showed a real mastery of flight to take his wicket, while Max also took a wicket and bowled a last-over maiden as Hawridge and Cholesbury slumped to 242-4.

Captain Max said: "It was great to start the season with a win and all the lads played really well. But we're just taking it one game at a time."
