LEY HILL UNDER-10s stormed to a sensational victory over Ballinger with a blistering display which saw all 10 players win the man-of-the-match award.
The victory, by 38 runs under Barrington rules, was rich reward for a summer of hard work and concentration by the whole squad.
Captain for the day Christian Partington won the toss and chose to bat, picking Fergus Allan and new boy Todd Wallis to open the innings. They set the tone for an inspired batting display which saw Ley Hill lose only three wickets as they compiled a magnificent 267.
The highlights were a great boundary from Fergus, a steady middle order display from Scott Barrett and great hitting from Tor Outfin, who hit two boundaries, and Jamie Cullen, who also hit two fours. They were brilliantly supported by Bert Wade and James Asquith, who went through their overs unbeaten.
But it was the bowling and fielding which really took the breath away and proved far too good for a strong Ballinger side, who finished their 20 overs on 229-6.
Tommy Wolstenholme-Williams was in magnificent form, taking three wickets for the second match in a row with some wonderfully accurate pace bowling. He was brillliantly supported by opening bowlers Fergus and Tor, who took a wicket each.
But the highlights of the fielding were a brilliant runout by Todd, who hit the stumps direct with a powerful throw from the deep and another fine display of wicketkeeping from Max Lee.
Christian said: "It was great to see us finally produce our form in a match. We enjoyed batting first and we held our nerve really well in the field to keep their score down. All the boys did a brilliant job and I'm sure we can build on this in the future."
