MAN-OF-THE-MATCH James Asquith smashed the only boundary of the game but still ended up on the losing side.

Ley Hill Under10s went down to a 54-run defeat under Barrington rules against an exceptionally talented Amersham side, featuring at least one county bowler.

The Ley Hill side did brilliantly to restrict the visitors to 241-6, with superb bowling performances from Scott Barrett, Jamie Cullen, James Asquith, Tor Outfin and Christian Partington.

Jamie Woodley, making a special guest appearance for the U10s, took two wickets and went for just six runs in three very impressive overs. Arthur Summers, also making a special guest appearance, bowled beautifully in his first match with a hard ball.

The bowlers were well supported by some very good fielding, with wicketkeeper Fergus Allan taking a skied catch over his head off Jamie Woodley's bowling.

Bert Wade and Aaron Taylor were excellent in the field, always encouraging their team-mates and keeping their concentration to ensure not one Amersham batsman hit a boundary.

But Ley Hill were undone by some wonderful bowling from Amersham, who took 11 wickets in the innings and also bowled two maiden overs.

James Asquith hit a great four to the long leg boundary but the batsmen found it hard to take control as the Amersham attack took wickets regularly to reduce Ley Hill to 187-11 at the close.
