Text Box: The ANNUAL DINNER was held on Friday 19th November at the Chess Suite, CUFC and was once again well attended. Many thanks to Denis McCarthy for hosting the disco and to Andy Rennard for organising the evening.

After a tasty three course meal provided by Alpine Catering, the awards for the season were handed out. They were as follows:

President’s Cup: MATTHEW HARMAN
Player of the Year: KEITH STRICKLAND
2nd XI Player of the Year: WILL ROTHWELL
3rd XI Player of the Year: IAN WALTER
Young Player of the Year: KASH SHAKOOR
Most Improved Player: JAMIE MORRIS
Clubman of the Year: DENIS McCARTHY
Most Promising Newcomer: JOEL NEWELL
Stan Channer Bowling Award: DAVE PETERSON (7 for 29)
Century Trophies: KEITH STRICKLAND (127 n.o. & 102)
						KASH SHAKOOR (122 & 104 n.o.)
						JON LOWN (102 n.o.)
KASH SHAKOOR also received a trophy from the Mid-Bucks League for the highest score of the season in Division 2.

The President’s Cup is awarded personally by the President and the Stan Channer Bowling Award goes to the bowler with the best figures of the season. All other awards (apart from the century trophies) are chosen by the committee. The Clubman award goes to the member (who in the committee’s opinion) has done the most for the club off the pitch.
The AGM was held on Friday 26th November in the pavilion.  Attendance was about average – the usual dedicated few.  The results of the voting for next season’s officials were as follows:

*This was previously 14 & over.  (Rule change passed at the 2004 AGM.)

If a member plays Saturday and Sunday the same weekend he gets a reduction of £2 from the fee for the Sunday game.  Any member not having paid his subs by the 17th May deadline runs the risk of having his match fees DOUBLED until his subs are received.

The club is in a very healthy financial position thanks to Jon Lown’s management – and it is planned to spend some of this money on installing a permanent net between the pavilion and the garage.  We have a provisional booking for the installation (which if it goes ahead will take place before the start of next season) but this is still subject to approval by Chiltern District Council.  The council committee will be considering our application during December, but we do have the backing of the Parish Council and CDC’s Environmental Officer so we are fairly optimistic.  We will also be spending some of this money on further maintenance for the outfield.

Dave Peterson outlined the successful season which was had by the Junior teams and gave details of teams for next season from U-11s up to U-17s.  He personally thanked all his coaches, helpers and team managers for their unstinting and dedicated support over the past season.
