END OF LEAGUE SEASON CURRY NIGHT

MID = BUCKS LEAGUE

There is good news and there= is not so good news.

The 2nds are currently third in Division 2 but are just 7 points behind the lea= ders – Broomwade. With just = three league games left this season, they stand a very real chance of winning the= ir division.

The 1sts however have not lived up to their early promise when for one heady we= ek they led the Premier Division and have now slipped down to sixth place. Broomwade are already clear winner= s, being nearly 50 points in front of the second team (Holmer Green) but only = 46 points cover positions 2 through to 6 and with a bit of effort the 1sts cou= ld finish several places higher up the table.=

The really bad news is that an opposition umpire put in a bad report to = the Mid Bucks League about our behaviour at one of our league games. You don’t need to know the g= ory details – suffice it to say that Ley Hill Cricket Club WILL NOT put up with bad behaviour either on or off the pitch from any player. We expect all our players to respe= ct the “Spirit of the Game” (to be found on the noticeboard in the home changing room).

Now for some mo= re cheerful news.

CONGRATULATIONS to JACK THOM= PSON on his recent performances for the Chiltern & South Bucks District U12 = Team at the Bucks District U12 Cricket Festival.

Jack was Chiltern & South Bucks Man of the Tournament and was named for the overall outstanding performance of the event after taking 8 wickets for 22 = runs v Milton Keynes and then 7 wickets for 26 runs against Wycombe, includi= ng 4 wickets in one over.

Nice to see KEITH STRICKLAND back behind the stumps on Sundays after a monthR= 17;s absence whilst recovering from the broken toe he received batting at Shenley Church End.

Welcome back to SCOTT PETERSON who has survived his Peruvian experience (you will recall we were all helping him fund raise to pay for the trip last year). He says the Peruvians have never h= eard of Paddington Bear!

Worried drinkers who have been reading/hearing all about pubs missing the deadline = for new licences can rest assured that we put in our application to renew two months before the deadline, so your pavilion bar will NOT be forced to close down!

The new permanent net is now finished and ready for use.

One or two ground rules here though.

It has cost us just a few pence under £10,000 so we would like to see it treated with respect. For sta= rters, NO STUDS on the practice mat. We don’t want to see holes appearing in it after paying all that money out!

Secondly, don’t scuff the pitch to mark your run-up and thirdly don’t use= it when there is a match in progress.

I mention this every year – TIDYING UP. Whether you are at the pavilion week-ends or weekday evenings, try to do your bit to make sure everything is put away tidily. Some of the culprits are too young to think of this – so coaches and managers = 211; it’s up to you to remind them.

However, no-one is too young to put a sweet wrapper or crisp packet in a rubbish bin. Just in case you haven&#= 8217;t spotted it, there is one standing next to the bar.

DAD’S ARMY

Men are STILL wanted to join the Walmington on Sea Home Guard – or to be German Submariners or ARP Wardens. Women needed for a beauty contest (wearing 40’s style swimsuits).

= Chesham Theatre Company are still short of a number of people for these walk-on rol= es – and if you feel brave enough to say a few lines, we need a Private Sponge, Private Hancock, Private Day, Verger and Town Clerk who all have half a dozen or so lines each!

= You will need to be available for the week of 5^th to 12^th November when this extremely popular comedy show is being staged at The Elg= iva in Chesham.

= SO COME ALONG! DON’T BE SHY!

I know at least some of you are no strangers to the stage. Phone me if interested= or just turn up any Monday evening at 8 pm to = the Temperance Hall, Church Street, Chesham which is where we rehearse.

= Rehearsals so far have been great fun. <= span class=3DGramE>Moi? Oh = yes, I am playing the part of Mrs Fox, Corporal Jones’s lady friend.
