UNDER 11s WIN AT HIGH WYCOMBE
High Wycombe B 263; Ley Hill 301 (Barrington Rules)
Many thanks to Phil Shepley for another great match report.
Following a tough Monday night, our U11 team bounced right back with a strong win over High Wycombe U11 B. For the second match in a row, the side had debuts from Munveer and Rhys, both putting in strong performances along with Max & Luke from the U10.
Our Captain for the evening, Jemima put High Wycombe into bat first, which gave us a chance to show off a much improved bowling performance. The first wickets came in the 5th over with Tess taking 2 wickets in her first over, followed by the only maiden of the game in her second. Overall, the bowlers were much more economic and took 6 wickets overall, with Rebecca getting another and Rhys 2 towards the end of their innings. The fielding was energetic and Teddy’s wicket keeping was first class, keeping their run rate down. Evelyn kept that going for the last 8 overs with another brave performance, despite the hard knock on Monday night. After 20 overs, we’d pegged them back to 263 runs, with just 31 off the bat.
Ed opened up the batting with a boundary on the first ball on the way to superb partnership with Luke of 27. Jemima and Tess, with 4 boundaries between them, came in and added another 26, despite the loss of a wicket. High Wycombe pegged us back a bit for the next 2 partnerships with some quick bowling but we added another 15 between them with some good defensive play, despite 4 wickets. Their rate of extras was matching ours, in fact both teams finished with the same level but Teddy & Rhys added another 33, Teddy as top scorer on the evening with 16, to finish on 301 – our highest score of the season so far!
The match finished with a 28 run victory for Ley Hill, conducted in a great spirit by both teams who can very proud of their performances.
