RAIN AFFECTED MATCH GOES LEY HILL'S WAY
Hurley 141-10 in 36 overs; Ley Hill 144-3 in 20 overs
The weather forecast predicted heavy showers and it was 100% correct. There were two stoppages for rain during Hurley's innings, leading to the overall loss of 10 overs and the game finished with Ley Hill desperately trying to score the winning runs whilst the rain hammered down yet again. Ley Hill won the toss and put Hurley into bat. Five out of the first six Hurley batsmen only scored 27 runs between them, but the number 2 bat - V. Bhagwani - stayed at the crease and finished up with 61 runs, mainly supported by J. Graham who scored 36. The wickets were shared around the six Ley Hill bowlers, with the best being Suranga Daluwatta with 3-21. Ley Hill opened with Ollie Runswick (who had kept wicket due to Nick Lee's injury) and captain Craig Peterson. Runswick made 63 from 48 balls before being caught and bowled by Hurley captain Ridgeway but Peterson stayed put and was 48 not out. Contributions from Richard Clarke and Lewis Thompson saw Ley Hill reach the winning total with plenty of overs to spare, but as already mentioned, with the rain pouring down yet again. Ridgeway was the only Hurley bowler to take any wickets, ending up with final figures of 3-35. A full scorecard is available on this website.
