Following the cancellation by Chesham Bois of the match that should have been played, Ley Hill skipper Paul Green had set up a “double header” against Hyde Heath, with Ley Hill visiting them on 11th August and Hyde Heath coming to Ley Hill on the 18th.
Hyde Heath won the toss and put Ley Hill into bat. Opener Jon Lown was not out with 62 runs, followed by Peter Connolly – making a welcome return to cricket after a break since 2017 – with 25 runs, Chirag Thakur (who improves every time he plays) with 24 runs and Joe Batt with 23 runs. Most of the damage was done by Hyde Heath bowler L. Brennan who took 4 wickets for 25 runs.
In response, Hyde Heath scored freely with L. Brennan excelling with the bat as with the ball by scoring 73 runs and having a 3rd wicket partnership of just 7 short of 100 runs. He was finally bowled out by Paul who ended up taking 4 for 27. It was too late to change the result however and Hyde Heath passed the winning total in just 29.3 overs. Maybe we will get our revenge next Sunday!
