Ley Hill batted first and managed 85-4 off their 20 overs. The boys found runs hard to come by, with Chenies bowling very tightly and fielding well. Thomas and new team mate Aryan put on a solid 40+ stand before Aryan feathered a catch to the keeper. Charlie came in and batted nicely before being well caught and Chirag then suffered the same fate, top edging after a couple of lusty blows. Benji then came in to partner Thomas, who departed after being bowled off his pads for 26 or so runs. Ethan and Benji saw out the innings with some sharp running between the wickets.
Although not a big total to defend, Ley Hill put in a good effort in the field. Thomas and Charlie bowling tight lines and Aryan grabbing a wicket with a well-taken low catch by Thomas. At the half way mark, the match was even. Henry then took a blinding diving catch to dismiss their number three following some great spin bowling from Ethan. We then took the wicket of one of four Bucks County girls playing for Chenies, who were excellent allrounders. Jake P, Henry and Chirag bowled well, but couldn’t dislodge yet another Bucks county player from seeing out the total with two overs to spare. Perhaps a couple of missed catches and tighter fielding would have put more pressure on Chenies, but an enjoyable game nonetheless.
