Ley Hill won the toss and elected to bat on a far sunnier day than many in the past few weeks. Skipper Craig Peterson (opening with Ben Moultrie-Ford) was caught behind by Richie Wallace for just 4 runs, but Ben hung on and managed to score 38 before being caught behind himself with the total on 102. Justin Hutchins – going in at 3 – also scored 38 before being caught but highest scorer for Ley Hill turned out to be Ben Woodbridge who was stranded on 49 not out . The only other player in double figures was Craig Ottaway who managed to spank 17 before being given LBW. Best bowler for Holmer Green was Jake Gumb with 4 for 43 from 11 overs.
In response, Holmer Green opened with Kashif Iqbal and Deep Purkayastha. The latter went for just 20 with the score on 76 and by the time it reached 138, Holmer Green had lost 4 wickets and Ley Hill were making them work hard for their runs. Three wickets fell with the score on 161 – including the other opener Kashif Iqbal who had ended up with a magnificent 102, but despite taking the 8th wicket with the score on 175, Holmer Green got home with a knock of 29 not out from Prasantha Weerakoon. Best Ley Hill bowling came from Craig Ottaway with 4 for 42 from 9 overs, followed by the ever reliable Lewis Thompson who took 3 for 40 from 12.
