Ley Hill won the toss and put Ballinger Waggoners into bat. Top scorer was Monty Thompson with 45 runs, followed by Andy Thompson with 30. Main destroyer of the Ballinger Waggoners team was Craig Ottaway, who took 4 for 42.
In response, Ley Hill struggled with the bat, only 4 players reaching double figures and Brad Norton having to retire after only scoring 4 runs with what turned out to be a torn Achilles tendon. Best of the batters however was the other Thompson brother – Jack – who came into bat at number 10 with the score on 101 and saw the team home by scoring 50 not out from 44 balls, including 8 fours and 2 sixes. He was ably abetted by Max Lee, who ended up with 25 runs before being caught and bowled. Nick Adams was the best of the Ballinger Waggoners bowlers, taking 4 for 24.
