The Lacey Green side which Ley Hill found themselves playing in this match only had one player in the team who had come to Ley Hill earlier in the season – and the difference showed. Lacey Green won the toss and elected to bat, their opener W. Carter scoring 150 before being bowled by Kabir Rab playing in his first match for Ley Hill. J. Hedgeland contributed 75 runs before he too was bowled by Kabir and T. Oakford made 30. Kabir had the best bowling figures – 2 for 36 from 5 overs.
In response, Ley Hill struggled for runs but managed to avoid being bowled out, only losing 7 wickets. Top scorer was Jon Lown with 34 runs, followed by Jon Humphreys with 30 not out and young Archie Bellamy with 23 not out. It would have been interesting to know what their last wicket stand was but unfortunately this has not been recorded. Best of the Lacey Green bowling came from M. Saghie with 3 for 45 from 10 overs, followed by J. Hedgeland with 2 for 21 from 10.
Ley Hill are now 4th in the league table, and Phil Bush still holds title to the best batting for Division 2 with 122 runs.
